Vyara Stefcheva is the CEO of Zahara Consult – a marketing agency that takes care of the development and digital presence of some of the largest companies in the world. Vyara is a marketing and SEO expert with many years of experience in creating marketing strategies and advertising campaigns.

Her career started as an intern in the PR department of bTV and went through various positions in the field of communication – in PR and advertising agencies, media, IT companies. She is the creator of the DobreSum.bg platform. Vyara is a lecturer at SoftUni Digital and Finance Academy. She is among the nominees in the prestigious Forbes “30 under 30” ranking for 2024.

Director, Manager and the main figure of Zahara

The first chapter of my story begins with advertising, media and technology.

I learned to read by spelling out the headline on the front page of the newspaper. I learned to type on the keyboard of our old Windows 95 computer. And I must admit that my favorite part of TV shows was… the commercials.

Therefore, it is no surprise that in 2017 my career began with internships in various media, PR and advertising agencies. I even had the pleasure of being in the PR department of bTV!

For 6 years, I gained experience in various positions – journalist, editor-in-chief, copywriter, PR, advertising specialist, account, sales, SEO specialist. I was driven by the desire to learn new things, which is why I have practiced in various sectors, including IT, finance, education, media.

I was constantly looking for new opportunities for development and in many cases I worked as a volunteer absolutely free of charge.

Thanks to what I learned, today I have the pleasure of leading the team of the Zahara Consult marketing agency and helping businesses reach new customers and increase their sales.

It is a real pleasure for me that today I even pass on my knowledge to the next generation of marketing experts in educational institutions such as SoftUni Digital and New Bulgarian University.

I believe that this is just the beginning of my story!

As CEO of Zahara Consult, I have the privilege of helping numerous companies around the world grow their business and reach new customers.

My experience includes developing and executing marketing strategies for global organizations, corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, startups, and even NGOs.

PR deprartment - bTV

In 2018, I had the privilege of interning in the PR department of the largest media outlet in Bulgaria – bTV. There, I learned directly from the most experienced PR and media experts in the country and worked on the biggest television formats – “The Farm”, “Masterchef”, “The Voice of Bulgaria”, “Mission My Home” and others.

I can happily say that this is the most professional and awesome team I have ever had the pleasure of learning from!

Journalist at Uspelite.bg

In 2017, I became part of the team of the largest independent media outlet for positive news and stories – Uspelite.bg. I conducted a number of inspiring interviews with successful Bulgarians, which you can find here.

As part of the team, I worked as a journalist, editor and managed the media’s community of donors on Patreon, absolutely free of charge.

 

In 2018, my interview with Dr. Hochwarter was published in the book “Five Steps to a Better Life.”

That same year, another of my interviews with Ivan Manev was published in a magazine with a circulation of 500,000!

You can only imagine my excitement when I first touched the releases!

Work in PR and advertising agencies

In the period 2017 – 2018 I worked in various domestic PR and advertising agencies. My work included building and implementing PR, advertising and communication strategies for clients, including Municipal Bank, Bulgarian Sports Totalizator, Sofia Water, National Revenue Agency.

Some of the activities I performed included market research, monitoring and analysis of media content, planning and implementation of PR campaigns, event organization, creating crisis PR strategies and more.

Editor-in-Chief at a Software Development Magazine

In 2018, I took the position of “editor-in-chief” in the largest software development media in our country – Devstyler. I was responsible for the online and print edition – the media magazine.

Thanks to this position, I conducted numerous interviews with leading global managers and experts in the IT sector. Among them are names such as:

  • Stefan Ferber, CEO of Bosch Software Innovations GmbH
  • Rajiv Ramaswami, COO at VMware
  • Viktor Andonov, Director of Devexperts Bulgaria
  • Andon Nikolov, General Director of SoftServe

In 2019, my colleagues and I conducted the first survey in Bulgaria on the topic of “Salaries in the IT Sector”. The results of the survey were widely covered by the domestic media.

Organization of large-scale programming conferences

In 2018-2019, I participated in the organization of the largest programming conference in Eastern Europe – Global Tech Summit. The conference includes several parallel events – Java2Days, CodeMonsters, AI & Smart Tech, Technology 4 Business. As part of the large-scale event, we also organized the Startup World Cup startup competition, as well as the Women Reality (WR) initiative, dedicated to women in technology.

The conferences are among the first and largest software development events in Eastern Europe in over 10 years. We organized annual national technology awards “GTS Technology Awards”, where we awarded the leaders in the IT sector in Bulgaria. A special guest of the forum was Tito Hamze – executive producer at the largest tech media outlet – TechCrunch.

During this stage of my professional development, I had the pleasure of actively attending technology meetups, events and conferences in Bulgaria, including “BG-JUG – Java Bulgarian User Group”, “Swift Sofia Meetup”, “WordPress Bulgaria” and “Google Digital Garage”. I participated in initiatives of women’s organizations in the technology sector, including “Women Who Code”, “WomenTech Network”, “Rails Girls Sofia”, “Bulgarian Centre of Women in Technology – BCWT”.

Digital marketing

Digital marketing was a natural extension of my career development. For several years I worked in digital marketing and advertising agencies.

Working in an agency allows you to quickly gain experience in different positions. The pace of work is very intense and with the increase in clients, within a few years, I had to take on many professional responsibilities to help the team. This is how I learned to work with clients as an Account Manager and to find new clients as a Sales & B2B Expert.

I conducted market research, along with building marketing strategies and their implementation. I met professionals who taught me the intricacies of marketing. I started my development in the SEO sector, social networks, as well as in digital advertising.

Freelance

I combined university with work, and in order to be able to support myself, I started working freelance in parallel. I found international clients through recommendations, as well as working with former colleagues from the IT sector who already trusted me.

I have worked freelance on projects in the financial sector, information technology, blockchain, education.

As a freelancer, I most often dealt with building marketing strategies, SEO, social media management, PR materials, media coverage, copywriting, and designs.

Technology & AI

Technology is my biggest passion, both personally and professionally. I constantly follow the topic and buy various gadgets (the latest is a drone…), which I test with interest. That is why I want Zahara Consult to apply only the most modern techniques and software for marketing our clients.

  • In 2021, I was in the world’s top 5% of affiliate performers on the largest crypto exchange
  • I created the first Bulgarian community for fans of high technology and artificial intelligence – Web3, AI & Metaverse Community
  • Together with colleagues, we created a membership platform for Web3 training and networking – Web3Trib3

Lately, I’ve been posting on the topic more often on my personal profiles. I use the sites as a testing ground for new techniques in SEO and marketing. This way, I monitor the effect and validate whether my ideas work before offering them to our Zahara clients.

Lectoring

In 2018, Sofia Youth Innovation Lab was my first role as a lecturer at Media Academy – a free copywriting academy.

I also have the pleasure of teaching in:
  • SoftUni Digital – in the courses “Copywriting Secrets” and “SEO Copywriting”
  • Finance Academy – in the course “Additional Income” and the modules “Introduction to Blockchain” and “Web3 & AI”
